2019 is coming to a close, and it was truly a landmark year for Global Services as our team grew and we adjusted to substantial changes in our office and in the Government Contracting (GovCon) field.
Look out Navy Yard, Here we Come
2019 brought financial growth for Global Services. With that surge in revenue came the realization that we had outgrown our space. After 20 years at Logan Circle, we kicked off the new year in a larger space at WeWork Navy Yard. This move not only brought us closer to our partners and clients, but also expanded our networking opportunities. And we got an office puppy!
Room for One More at Global Services
With a larger space and budget, we could add another GovCon Rockstar to our team! We hired a Junior Proposal Coordinator to support our clients and our GSA Schedule and Proposal Development Departments in all endeavors. More manpower meant we could expand our clientele and tackle more business. In 2019 alone, we helped hundreds of clients win government contracts, and we grew a whopping 20% as a result.
Spreading the News
My team and I were very pleased to help our clients, especially fellow Small Businesses, hit target goals and experience massive growth from government contracting this year. To extend our reach still further, I increased my involvement in Women Impacting Public Policy’s (WIPP) ChallengeHER, an initiative to educate and support Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSBs) and Women-Owned Businesses in the federal contracting market. This last year, I have traveled across the country, spreading General Services Administration (GSA) Schedules knowledge to hundreds of professionals. And as we got closer to the end of the government Fiscal Year, the one question on every attendee’s mind was: “What’s going on with the MAS Consolidation?” GSA answered in October.
This Changes Everything
In October, GSA’s Federal Marketplace Strategy Phase I hit the streets, unveiling the MAS Consolidation. The GSA Schedules, once 24 separate entities, were now one, consolidated Schedule. This is one of the largest changes I’ve seen in GovCon in my 20+ years of business, and I am happy to say it has streamlined the process for contractors. My team and I have studied the new solicitation extensively in order to best support our clients through these changes. Additionally, we updated our pro-bono presentations for SCORE and the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (APTAC) to provide the most current information to people outside of our clientele. Now, we are gearing up for Phase II: MAS Mods.
Lending a Helping Hand
In 2019, our team supported clients on a wide range of contracts, including the highly competitive OASIS SB and OASIS 8(a) contract vehicles. In 2020, we will track further developments on STARS III, GSA’s highly anticipated 8(a) IT contract vehicle, as well as additional awardees under 2019’s OASIS on-ramp.
The Global Services Team Will See You All Next Decade
2019 was a year of many changes. But, like always, there is no growth without change! If the GovCon field is evolving, so must we. As a Small Business, we are able to adapt rapidly to offer the best support possible to our clients. We’re ready and excited to see what 2020 brings. I hope to see you all in the new year!
